About Us
Cobb's Hill is a very picturesque property located in the middle of the Adelaide Hills near Oakbank, home of The Great Eastern Steeplechase. Mount Cobb, a distinctly shaped hill on the north eastern boundary of the property commemorates the time when the property was used by the national transport company, Cobb & Co, to spell thousands of its horses and bring them back into condition. Its lush pastures stem from the early grasses planted at that time.
This historic property is now owned by Sally and Roger Cook. Di Davidson, one of Australia's most respected viticultural consultants chose 25 acres of our 300 acre property as being ideal for growing grapes. The very best clones of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Reisling and Merlot were planted. As with our Angus Cattle and Cherries we strive for consistent quality and only the best will do! Therefore the vines are handpruned and the grapes handpicked with cropping levels deliberately kept at a low level to ensure that maximum quality and natural flavour. Already our hard work has paid off with our 2002 Sauvignon Blanc winning the Professional section of the "2003 Hyatt Advertiser Wine of the Year Awards".
We are very proud of the reputation for quality wine, cattle and cherries produced from our stunning property.
